Threshold

The Threshold project brings together a collection of works all concerned with the transition from pre to post-industrial world and its continuing echoes. It was timed to mark the exact 200 year anniversary of the march and subsequent massacre of weavers at Chatterton.

Threshold spans multiple exhibitions over the course of 2026, at the centre of which are the Threshold works themselves.

The project also includes Void, Winter Oak, and works from the Lithics, Grane Mill and Hare Clough series — all taken from the landscape of Rossendale, a place at the heart of a revolution that continues to shape our world.

Canopy

A continuing series exploring complexity, commonality and the passage of time on the natural world. Drawing on the Japanese notion of Komorebi - the light that falls through leaves - and the idea that complexity increases steadily over time, the Canopy series asks the viewer to look again at a most familiar subject. Each work is less an image than a construct: it evolves with placement, with the shift of ambient light through the day, and with the movement of the viewer.

Lithics

What would some future viewer make of the traces we leave? Could meaning be reconstructed from objects in the landscape alongside data, testimony, and images from the same site?

Organics

Where the Lithics series examines the rapid loss of meaning and difficulty of interpretation, Organics registers a different process: the gradual reclamation of both built structure and apparatus by the natural world.

Other works
