CANOPY, 2026

Inspired by the Japanese concept of Komorebi and a recently proposed theory that all things tend towards greater complexity over time, the Canopy series invites the viewer to look more closely at a most familiar subject. As the works examine different species, sites and seasons, both variation and commonalities are revealed.

The layered approach, clearly a human imposition, contrasts with the familiar natural forms depicted. It becomes apparent that this is anything but a natural image, rather, a construct that evolves with placement, shifts in ambient light through the day and movement of the viewer.

First editions of the initial four Canopy works: Olive, Summer Oak, Autumn Oak and Winter Oak are now available.

Each:

  • One of a limited series of 8 pieces

  • 3 x Stacked transparent Plexiglass panels

  • Natural oak frame

  • 42 x 42cm

First Edition Pricing:

  • Olive - £1050

  • Summer Oak, Autumn Oak and Winter Oak - each £850

Placed in natural light, these sculptural pieces will constantly vary through the day, shadows shifting with the play of sunlight and movement of the viewer.
